Jenny Jamen

Jenny is the founder of Hummingbird Hygiene Inc. She is a pioneering dental hygienist who has carved a niche in the realm of elderly care dentistry through her entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering dedication. Specializing in serving the elderly population, specifically those living with dementia, Jenny goes above and beyond to provide compassionate and tailored dental care to her patients. Jenny has become a trusted advocate for oral health among the elderly, fostering partnerships with retirement communities and senior care facilities across the Lower mainland and in rural communities. Her entrepreneurial journey not only demonstrates her commitment to improving oral health outcomes for the elderly but also serves as an inspiring example of how innovation and empathy can transform delivery for underserved populations. 

Merle Jamen

Merle adeptly manages the operations of Hummingbird Hygiene with precision and grace. As the office manager, Merle wears many hats, seamlessly coordinating appointments, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth flow of day-to-day operations. With a keen eye for detail and exceptional organizational skills, Merle ensures that our patients receive top-notch care while navigating the logistical challenges of a mobile practice. Her dedication to efficiency and professionalism makes Merle an invaluable asset to the team, enabling the practice to deliver high-quality dental services conveniently to patients in various locations.

Hanna Rakowska

RDH, BHS, RHN, CHCP

Hanna immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of seven. She graduated from the dental hygiene program at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George in 2008 and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from Thompson Rivers University. Hanna was always guided toward a career in teaching and being of service to people in need, and she is grateful that her role at Hummingbird Hygiene allows her to fulfill both of these passions. Prior to working in long-term care, Hanna worked in private practice for over ten years. Outside of her profession of dental hygiene, you can find Hanna at her yoga studio, trail running/walking with her rescue dog, cooking plant-based meals, and learning about nutrition (her other passion). 

Sara Andrews 
RDH

Sara grew up on the Sunshine Coast. She demonstrated a keen interest in helping others from a very young age. After graduating high school she pursued a career in the dental profession and worked for many years as a dental assistant before becoming a dental hygienist in 2017. Sara now divides her time between North Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast where she helps others to improve their oral health and increase accessibility of care for those living in rural communities.  

Danae Parr
BDSc, RDH

Danae graduated from UBC in the Dental Hygiene Degree Program in 2011. She worked in private practice for many years before deciding to pursue a career in community settings and long-term care. Danae has a strong desire to help those with challenges accessing dental care and finds her job very rewarding! Danae lives in Abbotsford with her husband and two kids.

Dr. Eugene Chien
DMD

Dr. Chien grew up in Vancouver and received his dental training at UBC. He is interested in providing appropriate care for patients and involving patients and families in the treatment decision making process. He worked in a variety of settings as a dentist including practicing in a rural community, non-for-profit community center, long term care facility, academic institution, and private practice. He is looking forward to helping you and your loved ones manage their dental needs.
